When you link your Discord account to the Lighthouse website, the system automatically assigns you Discord roles that match your website membership level. These roles control which channels you can see and interact with on the Discord server.
You don't need to request roles or do anything manually -- they sync automatically whenever your membership level changes.
Your Discord role matches your current website membership level:
| Website Level | Discord Role | What It Unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Stowaway | -- | Access to the #foyer to introduce yourself |
| Traveler | Traveler | Full access to community channels |
| Resident | Resident | Additional channels and recognition |
| Citizen | Citizen | Highest community access |
You'll only have one membership role at a time. When you're promoted on the website, your old role is removed and the new one is added automatically.
All linked accounts also receive a Verified role. This simply shows that your Discord account is connected to a real Lighthouse website account.
If you're a staff member, you'll also receive Discord roles for your department and rank. These are managed the same way -- assigned automatically when your staff position is set on the website, and updated if your position changes.
Your roles are synced automatically when:
In most cases, role changes happen within seconds. If you notice your roles seem out of date, head to Settings > Discord Account -- the page checks and syncs your roles when you visit it.
There are a few reasons your Discord roles might be removed:
In all of these cases, your roles come back automatically once the situation is resolved. If something seems wrong, open a support ticket and staff will help sort it out.
